Bluetooth is not working on my car stereo. What can I do?

If you have Bluetooth problems with your car stereo, there are several things to try before we proceed with a possible service case.

1. Remove the existing Bluetooth connection

Start by removing the stereo from your phone’s saved Bluetooth devices.

Also remove the phone from the stereo’s list of previously connected devices, if this feature is available.

Restart both the phone and stereo, then try pairing them again.

2. Try another phone

Try connecting a different mobile phone.

If Bluetooth works with another phone, the problem may relate to the original phone’s settings or compatibility.

If several phones have the same problem, the cause may be in the stereo.

3. Check the software

Check the manufacturer’s official website for a software update for your stereo.

Updates can resolve some Bluetooth problems.

Only use updates intended for your exact stereo model and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Factory-reset the stereo

If the problem persists, try a factory reset according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Please note that a factory reset may erase saved settings, Bluetooth pairings and other personal settings.

Try pairing the phone again afterwards.

5. Gather information for further troubleshooting

If Bluetooth still does not work, we need:

  • The stereo’s brand and model.

  • The stereo’s serial number.

  • The car’s brand, model and model year.

  • The mobile phone brand and model.

  • If possible, the phone’s operating system and version.

  • A description of the problem, such as the phone not finding the stereo, the connection dropping or the sound not working.

  • Whether it also occurs with another phone.

  • Whether the stereo has been factory-reset.

  • Whether you have checked for software updates.

Once we have this information, we can help you further and assess whether more troubleshooting or servicing is needed.
