Can I use a DSP with the car’s factory stereo?

Yes, many audio processors are specifically developed to work with the car’s factory stereo.

This means you can keep the car’s existing infotainment system while expanding or improving the sound system.

How do you connect a DSP to the factory stereo?

The DSP is usually connected via high-level inputs that receive the audio signal from the car’s existing speaker cables.

The DSP then processes the signal and sends it to external amplifiers or, if the DSP has a built-in amplifier, directly to the speakers.

However, there are a few things to consider:

  • Factory signal: Some cars already have built-in audio processing that affects the signal.

  • Compatibility: Not all DSP models work with every type of factory system.

  • Number of channels: The DSP needs enough inputs and outputs for the planned installation.

  • Installation: Some cars may require specific wiring harnesses or adapters.

Some audio processors can also sum several input signals and correct parts of the car’s existing audio processing.
