My amplifier switches on but produces no sound. What can I do?
If the amplifier switches on but no sound comes from the speakers or subwoofer, the problem may be due to the signal connection, speaker cables, settings or impedance.
1. Check that the amplifier is switched on
Check that the amplifier’s Power indicator is lit and that it is not displaying a warning or Protect indication.
If the amplifier enters protection mode, follow the troubleshooting guide for that instead.
2. Check the audio signal
Check that the signal cables are securely connected to both the car stereo and amplifier.
If you use RCA cables, check that they are connected to the correct outputs and inputs.
If the amplifier uses high-level inputs, check that these are correctly connected according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Also check that the car stereo’s settings for features such as the subwoofer output are enabled, if that output is used.
3. Check the amplifier’s settings
Incorrect settings can make the sound very quiet or prevent it altogether.
For example, check:
Gain or Level.
LPF (low-pass filter).
HPF (high-pass filter).
Any subsonic filter.
Input selection and other settings affecting the audio signal.
Gain is not a conventional volume control and must not automatically be turned up to maximum.
If you are unsure about the settings, send a clear photo of the amplifier’s controls and we will help you check them.
4. Check the speaker cables
Switch off the system before checking the connections.
Check that the speaker cables are securely connected to both the amplifier and the speakers or subwoofer.
Also check that no loose wire strands can cause a short circuit between the terminals.
5. Check the speakers’ impedance
The amplifier must be connected to an impedance load within the manufacturer’s specifications.
If you use several speakers, subwoofers or dual voice coils, the wiring affects the total impedance.
Incorrect wiring can cause problems or make the amplifier enter protection mode.
If you are unsure how the speakers are wired, send information about the products you use and photos of the connections.
6. If the problem persists
If the amplifier still produces no sound, we need the following information:
The amplifier’s brand, model and serial number.
Which speakers or subwoofers are connected.
How many speakers or subwoofers are connected.
The impedance they are wired to.
Which car stereo or signal source is used.
Whether sound is missing entirely or only from certain speakers.
Whether the system worked previously.
Whether the amplifier’s settings have been checked.
Please attach clear photos of:
The speaker cable connections at the amplifier.
The speaker cable connections at the speakers or subwoofers.
The connections on any subwoofer enclosure or car audio speaker board (raggarplanka).
The amplifier’s settings, showing the positions of the controls.
The signal cable connections at the amplifier.
The amplifier’s serial number.
If the control positions are difficult to see, you can describe them using clock positions, such as 9 o’clock or 12 o’clock.
Once we have the information, we can help you further and assess whether additional troubleshooting or servicing is needed.
