My battery charger will not switch on. What can I do?

If your battery charger will not switch on, there are a few things you can check before we proceed with troubleshooting or a possible service case.

1. Check the mains connection

Check that the battery charger’s power cable is securely connected to the wall socket.

Try another wall socket to rule out a power supply problem.

If the charger is connected through a power strip, try connecting it directly to the wall socket.

2. Check whether the charger shows any signs of life

Check whether any light or display comes on when the charger is connected to the mains socket.

Some battery chargers also need to be connected to a battery to display information or start charging.

Check the user manual to see how your particular model should work.

3. Check the power cable

Inspect the power cable and plug for visible damage.

If the cable is damaged, do not use the charger.

Do not try to repair or open the charger yourself.

4. Check the battery connection

If the charger does not respond, check that the charging cables are correctly connected to the battery according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Check that the connections are secure and that there is no visible damage to the cables or connectors.

Disconnect the charger from the mains socket before changing the battery connections, unless the manufacturer specifies a different safe connection sequence.

5. Check any app connection

If your battery charger supports an app, check whether the charger appears there.

If it appears in the app, this may indicate that at least some of the charger’s electronics are working.

Please note that not all battery chargers support an app.

6. If the problem persists

If the battery charger still will not switch on, we need the following information:

  • The battery charger’s brand and model.

  • The battery charger’s serial number.

  • Whether any LED indicator or display comes on.

  • Whether another mains socket has been tested.

  • Whether the power cable has been checked.

  • Whether the charger is connected to a battery.

  • Whether the charger worked previously.

  • Whether the charger appears in its associated app, if app support is available.

Please attach clear photos of:

  • The battery charger.

  • Any indicators or error messages.

  • The charger’s serial number.

With this information, we can help you further and assess whether additional troubleshooting or servicing is needed.
