My car audio speaker board produces no sound. What can I do?
If your car audio speaker board (raggarplanka) produces no sound, the problem may be due to the amplifier, signal connection, settings or speaker cables.
There are a few things you can check before we proceed with a possible service case.
1. Check that the amplifier works
Check that the amplifier is switched on and its Power indicator is lit.
If the amplifier displays Protect or another warning indication, it may have activated its protection mode.
2. Check the audio signal
Check that the amplifier receives an audio signal from the connected source.
The signal may come from:
The car stereo.
A DSP (digital signal processor).
A high-to-low-level converter.
Check that the signal cables are securely connected and that the correct outputs and inputs are used.
If you use a DSP, also check that the correct channels are enabled and the audio signal is sent to the amplifier.
3. Check the amplifier’s settings
Check that the amplifier’s settings suit the speaker board.
Incorrect Gain, HPF or LPF settings, for example, can make the sound very quiet or prevent it altogether.
Gain must not automatically be turned up to maximum.
If you are unsure about the settings, send a photo of the controls.
4. Check the speaker cables
Switch off the system before checking the connections.
Check that the speaker cables are securely connected to both the amplifier and the board’s terminals.
If the board has several terminals, check that the correct ones are used according to the product’s wiring diagram.
Also check that no loose wire strands could cause a short circuit.
5. Check the impedance
Check that the board is connected with an impedance the amplifier is designed to handle.
Some boards have several wiring options or separate connections for different speaker groups.
If you are unsure about the wiring, send information about the board’s model and which amplifier is used.
6. Check any AST connection
If the board has an AST connector or another special connection, check that it is connected according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
How the connection should be used depends on the product’s design.
7. If the problem persists
If the board still does not play, we need the following information:
The board’s brand and model.
The board’s serial number.
Which amplifier is used.
The impedance the board is wired to.
Which signal source is used, such as a car stereo, DSP or high-to-low-level converter.
Whether the board has an AST connector and how it is connected.
Whether the board worked previously.
Whether the amplifier displays Power or Protect.
Please attach clear photos of:
The speaker cable connections at the amplifier.
The speaker cable connections at the board’s terminals.
The signal cable connections at the amplifier.
The amplifier’s settings.
The board’s serial number.
Once we have the information, we can help you further and assess whether additional troubleshooting or servicing is needed.
